Reaching the Finish Line

As I near the end of dealing with my edits for my next book, I’m starting to get excited about the release of my first cosy magical romance book. Bewitched by the Cornish Bookshop is set on the fictional island of Whisper Haven, off the coast of Looe in The English Channel. The location is based on Burgh Island, the famous inspiration for Agatha Christie’s novel And Then There Were None. Whisper Haven is a remote and windswept island, accessible only by sea taxi, and the home to an elite set of unusual families. One of the dwellings on the island is The Whispering Oak, a bookshop that has been passed down through the generations. The latest beneficiary is Remy Starling, a twenty-seven-year-old untrained witch, who has spent her life running from the aftermath of her magical powers…

When Remy Starling learns that the grandmother she never had the chance to know has left her a bookshop on the enchanting Cornish island of Whisper Haven, it feels like the fresh start she’s been searching for.

If only the shop wasn’t falling apart. If only the island’s residents weren’t so determined to know her business. And if only the infuriating antiques dealer next door would stop making it clear he’d rather she packed her bags and left.

Strange things have always happened when Remy’s emotions get the better of her, and Whisper Haven seems determined to uncover every secret she’s tried to bury. But as rivalries soften into unexpected attraction, and the island begins to feel more like home than anywhere she’s ever known, Remy must decide whether she’s ready to embrace the life waiting for her.

A warm, uplifting cosy fantasy filled with books, romance, found family and just a little bit of magic.

A release date and cover details for the book will follow shortly, but reaching the end point of the creative journey feels significant, so I wanted to share a few photos I’ve used as inspiration for the story.
